Paul Josey, PLA, ASLA, Principal

Paul co-founded Wolf Josey Landscape Architects and leads a diverse range of commercial, civic, academic and institutional projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions. He has particular knowledge and experience in urban and campus design, conservation, master planning, planting soils, arboriculture and construction administration. Paul received his Bachelors degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Maryland and completed post-graduate work in Landscape Architecture at the University of Virginia. He is a registered landscape architect in the District of Columbia, Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland, a board member of Virginia’s Urban Tree Council (Trees Virginia) and an active member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, International Society of Arboriculture and Soil Science Society of America.

BACKGROUND
He began as a designer and eventually a project manager at Urban Trees + Soils in Annapolis, Maryland where his work focused on innovative rainwater, soil and planting detailing at urban parks and residential projects. This lead to his work as a project manager at Nelson Byrd Woltz, where he focused on various award winning urban and institutional projects.

Additional work experience ranges from mixed-use and community master planning in New Delhi to residential construction in the San Francisco Bay Area. He held positions as the chair of the Charlottesville Tree Commission as well as the TREE Fund’s Tree and Soil Research Fund and was a contributor to the book, Up By Roots: Healthy Soils and Trees in the Built Environment by James Urban.
